Indigenous Politics - Our Story

Welcome to Indigenous Politics (IndigPoli)

The Indigenous Politics Blog, born from a vision to fill a crucial gap in political discourse, stands as a testament to over a decade of dedicated work and remarkable achievements. Inspired by an established political blog's focus on mainstream elections and candidate engagement via Twitter and their blog, the absence of Indigenous-specific content sparked the genesis of this platform.

Driven by a passion for politics, coupled with a deep understanding of Indigenous issues, the blog emerged as a pioneering voice for Indigenous candidates, voters, and political movements. From its humble beginnings to its status as a revered information hub, the journey has been one of continuous growth and impact.

Today, Indigenous Politics, also known as IndigPoli, this platform has garnered attention from media, educational institutions, and the public alike. Serving as a comprehensive resource for electoral data and insights, IndigPoli remains committed to fostering awareness and engagement regarding Indigenous participation in the political landscape.

With a steadfast dedication to amplifying Indigenous voices and narratives, the Indigenous Politics Blog stands as a beacon of knowledge and empowerment, shaping a more inclusive and informed political sphere.

Power of the Indigenous Vote

I delved into the significance of the Indigenous vote within Canadian electoral districts, aiming to uncover its potential impact on election outcomes. Collaborating with Elections Canada and StatsCan, I meticulously analyzed the 'Power of the Indigenous' vote across the country.

From regions like Nunavut to Churchill Keewatinook Aski, where Indigenous communities form the majority, to smaller ridings with a 5% or higher Indigenous voter presence, the influence of these voters is undeniable. By mobilizing effectively, Indigenous voters hold the key to influencing election results, even in seemingly minor constituencies.

Despite being the fastest-growing demographic in Canada, Indigenous voters are often overlooked by mainstream entities. As the youngest domestic population, their collective voice represents a substantial and influential segment that political parties and campaigns should actively engage with.

Explore my comprehensive report on the Power of the Vote 2025, detailing the Indigenous voting dynamics in every electoral district across Canada. Let's recognize and harness the potential of this crucial voter base for the upcoming elections.
